washington park modern home

The Twigg family set out to build their house amongst the Portland Arboretum trees, enlisting Darin Dougherty (formerly of SEED architecture), to design a modern masterpiece for their family to roost, relax and grow together.  Their love of modern design grew as the project evolved.  bright designlab worked with the family to design the kitchen, to fine tune the design details and finishes, and helped to manage through completion. The home boasts a sophisticated neutral palette - white walls, and walnut cabinetry throughout, with signature pops of color in the warm orange front door, as well as unexpected places like inside the kids' bath cabinetry. The structure has a green roof (plants, growing!) and was featured on the Portland AIA tour in 2012.

The scope: Kitchen design, finish palette and selections, bathroom details and finishes, custom desk design, lighting selections.
